Since Nacional got their first star, winning the final to the Scarlet, every game has been important.
In 1954 a relatively new club in the scene of Colombian soccer bathed of glory before the powerful America of Cali. It was Atletico Nacional, that year gave the Olympic return in the stadium of Palmira, before a scarlet fans who could not believe that the title escaped before their eyes.
For the year 1981, the Green Pigs and Red Devils were once again found in a grand finale. The cup returned to raise the paisa set, however on this occasion the controversy tarnished the celebration, as the players of America left the court 5 minutes before the end of the match at the Atanasio Girardot.
In 1984 both teams were already respected in the country and had payrolls that were beginning to be unbeatable. It could be said that along with Millonarios were footballing powers of Colombia, based on the above we understand the importance of the American victory over Nacional that meant the title to those of Cali to add more points than Millionaires.
In 1990, and when Nacional still enjoyed the Copa Libertadores obtained a year earlier, America won a key match in the title fight, which would later raise the Scarlet, before an Athanasius that was to burst.

The last match for the Colombian league between America and Nacional was played in 2011, the year in which La Mecha said goodbye to the National A. was left with the victory with a 4-2 that tarnished the inauguration of the Pascual Guerrero stadium.
